Challenge of the month - 众

The oracle bone inscription for 众 (zhòng) typically represented the concept of "many" or "a multitude." It was depicted by a combination of two pictographs: 人 (réng), meaning "person," and 从 (cóng - to follow), which symbolised two people. This combination visually conveys the idea of a group of individuals or a crowd. In modern Chinese, "众" is commonly used to refer to a large number of people or a collective group.
